Are the heart and soul two separate entities? The old saying, "The heart and soul of things", or, "I love you, heart and soul", indicate that they are separate. What do we really have on this earth? Does the heart transcend the universe like I believe the soul does?

When people say that someone, or even a dog, let's say, has "heart" they usually mean that the person has a lot of spirit, or a strong spirit. I once heard someone refer to a pitbull as having a lot of "heart". In that case it meant that the dog wasn't afraid to risk his life while fighting other dogs.
Do you have a lot of heart? How can you know?

For humans, having heart hopefully doesn't mean being fearless in fights with other humans. Having heart, to me, means having the strength in your own belief system to uphold certain standards and be willing to remain strong in the face of adversity. I struggle with "heart" sometimes.
